Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah wins big at Power Dynamos’ awards gala

Harambee Stars striker Moses Shumah emerged as the biggest winner of Power Dynamos’ end-of-season awards night gala held on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Shumah clinched three awards in the club, taking home the Footballer of the Year award, the top scorer award, and the fans’ Player of the Season accolade after a sensational first season with the back-to-back Zambia Super League champions.

The former Kakamega Homeboyz star and his compatriot, Emmanuel Osoro, were crowned the league champions as the AbaYellow secured a ninth top-flight crown.

Shumah also finished as the Golden Boot winner with a record-breaking 21 goals.

A goal-hero in Zambia

He was arguably the undisputed engine behind Power Dynamos’ dominant 2026 Zambian Super League campaign, establishing himself as one of the most feared talismans to ever grace the league.

He broke the record for the most goals scored in the Zambian topflight in the last decade. Shumah netted the most league goals in the ZSL since Walter Bwalya bagged 24 goals with Nkana FC in 2016.

His haul also marked the first time a player had surpassed the 20 goal mark, since the 2017/18 season when Congolese Idriss Mbombo scored 20.

With Oswald Mutapa’s team wrapping up the league title with almost seven games to spare, Shumah’s quest of breaking the league’s all-time record of 26 goals in a single season was, however, derailed as he missed the final rounds of fixtures.

Cementing status

He, however, made his mark, cementing his place as one of the hottest imports to grace the country’s top league, joining the stellar ranks of similar Kenyans such as Jesse Were, who plied his trade with Zesco.

Despite his goalscoring prowess, the striker has conspicuously failed to break into Benni McCarthy’s national team set-up, raising discussion among the Kenyan fanbase.

The hot streak elicited news of a possible transfer after a season in Zambia, which the player dispelled.

“For now, I am a Power Dynamos player, and I am committed to my team,” Shumah told a local publication.

“I won’t say anything about the interest or claim that anyone has approached me. Right now, my focus is on helping the team get back to the Champions League.”
