Harambee Stars player Timothy Ouma secures move to English side Charlton FC

Kenyan midfielder Timothy Ouma has secured a big move to English Championship side Charlton Athletic on a season-long loan from Czech First League club Slavia Prague, with an option to make the move permanent.
The Harambee Stars transfer to the Addicks was confirmed by the outfit on Monday, August 10, 2026. Timothy Ouma will join another Kenyan international, Collins Sichenje, in South London.
Timothy delighted about the move
Speaking after sealing the move, Ouma expressed his pride in wearing the Addicks jersey and promised to put his best foot forward.
“I’m grateful to be here. I’ll give my all and do my best to help the team achieve. I’m looking forward to seeing the supporters and hearing them cheer every tackle, every duel and every goal,” Ouma stated.
His transfer was also approved by Charlton manager Nathan Jones, who admitted that the club had monitored his progress for some time before luring him to join the Addicks.
“We’re delighted to get Timothy over the line. He’s a player that we’ve monitored for a long, long time and he comes with real good pedigree. He’s an athletic, technical midfield player who has had some good experience, and he’ll add real quality to our midfield.”
Managing Director James Rodwell added: “We’re delighted to bring Timothy to the club. He’s a player we’ve admired for some time and someone who fits the profile we identified as we continue to move the squad forward. He brings athleticism, quality on the ball, and a real presence in midfield, and we’re looking forward to seeing him in a Charlton shirt.
“We’ve also secured an option to make the transfer permanent, subject to certain conditions, which puts us in a strong position should Timothy contribute in the way we expect him to.”
Timothy Ouma’s journey to Charlton
The midfield maestro began his professional career in his hometown with Nairobi City Stars, where he spent two years before joining Swedish top-flight side IF Elfsborg in the summer of 2022.
Following three seasons in Sweden, which included 13 Europa League appearances, he joined Slavia Prague.
The midfielder spent the 2025/26 campaign on loan at Lech Poznań in Poland, where he gained further experience in European competition and lifted the Ekstraklasa title.
He has represented Harambee Stars 12 times to date, having earned his debut in a 1-1 draw with Uganda in November 2021.
Ouma is expected to grow under the guidance of Collins Shichenje, who so far has proved to be an important part of Charlton Athletic’s defence.
