Harambee Stars’ Aboud Omar reveals how Police FC executed Shabana’s downfall in FKF Cup
By Luke Oluoch, May 4, 2026Harambee Stars ace Abud Omar has explained the tactical approach that inspired Kenya Police FC’s crucial FKF Cup quarterfinal win over Shabana FC on Saturday, May 2, 2026.
The left-back was the hero of the encounter, which pitted two early favourites against each other. Omar notched home a sublime free kick to hand the Glamour Boys a home defeat and a premature exit from the lucrative competition.
Tactical approach
Omar revealed that the strategy was to strike at the Glamour Boys’ jugular early before deploying their defensive stalwarts, a facet he claims has been the team’s strongest suit this season.
“We knew Shabana were a difficult team, even more so when playing in their own backyard. They are a tough side with passionate fans, and we are happy to win today as we progress,” Omar stated.

“As a team, we are solid defensively, so we always aim to score first and then manage the game. It is a team effort, not just me; we did what was necessary to get it done, and now we can enjoy it,” he added.
The defeat saw Shabana’s push for the domestic cup grind to a halt as the Mark Ongwae-led side suffered a bitter exit.
With focus now shifting to the semifinals and the run-up to Ksh3 million prize money, Police FC remains fixed on bagging back-to-back trophies, especially after seeing their quest to defend the league title go up in smoke.
Job not done
However, coach Nicholas Muyoti has warned his charges not to rest on their laurels, insisting that the work is far from over.
Speaking after the clash, coach Muyoti remained grounded and magnanimous, acknowledging that the real challenge lies ahead as they enter the competition’s money bracket in the last four.
“We are now heading into the next stage, knowing the work is far from done. We have the other teams like Mfalme FC, who bundled out Muranga Seal and other formidable teams that we cannot underrate, so we will remain alert even as we proceed,” he stated.
In the previous round, Police eliminated preliminary rounds giant-killers BB Bread, who had knocked out the country’s football giants, AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia, in the Round of 64 and 32 phases.
