Harambee Starlets crowned league champions with Simba Queens
By Luke Oluoch, May 31, 2026The Harambee Starlets contingent at Simba Queens has clinched the 2025/26 league title in Tanzania after an emphatic 5-2 win over Mashujaa Queens on Sunday, May 31, 2026.
The group, comprising Corazone Aquino, Ruth Ingosi, Jentrix Shikangwa, and the midfield pair of Elizabeth Wambui and Fasila Adhiambo, reclaimed the league crown after losing it to JKT Queens in 2025.
This historic campaign crowns a splendid run for the Kenyan women’s football ambassadors, who have flown the country’s flag high in the neighbouring country through their massive impact.

Former Vihiga Queens ace Shikangwa has particularly been a bright spot for Juma Mgosi’s side with her attacking flair and goals, helping the team with over 16 goals in the campaign. The Harambee Starlets’ left-footed goal poacher helped herself to a double in the seven-goal thriller.

The encounter saw her extend her goal-fest campaign weeks after she notched another stylish brace to send Simba Queens past archrivals Yanga Princess in the Dar women’s derby clash.
Meanwhile, midfield mainstays Corazone and Wambui also made their mark in the league, with the former skippering the team in the just-concluded season.

The triumph also sees Adhiambo bag her first title in the competition after joining the Tanzanian women’s league from Kenya.
With the league triumph, Mgosi’s side has firmly established itself as the best team in the region, sealing qualification back to the CAF Women’s Champions League qualifiers for the CECAFA region.
The ladies’ outfit is also firmly on track for a historic season, with the CRDB Federation Cup game also within their grasp.
