Good performance, bad results! Shabana’s interim coach delivers verdict on defeat to Nairobi United
By Luke Oluoch, April 6, 2026Shabana FC interim coach Marc Andrew Ongwae has expressed his disappointment in his team’s latest league loss inflicted by rivals Nairobi United on Sunday, April 5, 2026, in an FKF Premier League encounter.
Speaking after the clash, the gaffer noted that the team’s performance was not entirely negative, acknowledging that they had a strong second half.
Tore Bobe’s season hit a new low with a 3-1 loss to Naibois, compounding their season struggles since the departure of coach Peter Okidi, who left the club in third place.
He particularly addressed the second-half display, which he claimed was more of a step up from the first half, in which they conceded twice.
“We started the game very slowly, which is unlike us. We were then forced to make early changes in the first half. We dominated the game in the second half more than our opponents afterwards,” he explained.
Ongwael further expressed concern with the trend of conceding goals right from strong positions of attacks, describing the situation around their goal that was inexplicably conceded from the opponents’ half after Mustapa Kizza’s long-range strike beat an out-of-position Stephen Ochieng.

“Of course, it is a concern to concede that way. We had the ball in our opponent’s half only to later concede after a first transition. We also faced a similar situation in the clash against Gor Mahia. It is something we need to work on and improve on in our next games,” he added.
While urging his team to pick up the pieces ahead of the next battle, the coach emphasised that there is still plenty to play for as their focus now shifts onto the FKF Cup tie.

“We go back to the drawing board. It’s not all lost; we still have something to prepare for the fight, and we now look to our next game in the FKF Cup game,” he stated.
