FKF PL title on the line as Gor Mahia, AFC Leopards brace for penultimate games

The thrilling Football Kenya Premier League title race is set to witness another round of riveting action as Week 33 fixtures take center stage starting this Saturday, May 23, 2026.

Arch-rivals Gor Mahia and AFC Leopards headline the matchweek action as they push for the league crown.

This season’s title race has seen Kenya’s two most followed clubs in a close and nail-biting final stretch of the campaign. In separate statements posted on their social media pages on Friday, May 22, 2026, both squads looked sharp and focused, hard at work ahead of their crucial weekend fixtures.

Fred Ambani’s AFC Leopards will pitch tent at the Kericho Green Stadium to face APS Bomet on Sunday, May 24, 2026. On the same day, Gor Mahia will travel to Homa Bay County to square off against hosts Mara Sugar.

New venue for Mara-Gor fixture

The venue for K’Ogalo’s clash was confirmed by the club on Thursday, May 21, 2026, after initially being slated for the Wang’uru Stadium in Mwea, Kirinyaga County.

“Our Sunday’s match against Mara Sugar is to be played at Raila Odinga Stadium in Homa Bay,” Gor Mahia statement revealed.

This highly anticipated weekend comes as the cliffhanger race for league honors heads into its final stages, with just two games left to conclude the campaign.

K’Ogalo are just one win away from wrapping up the league title, and the mood at their training base aptly captures their upbeat spirits.

Sitting four points clear of their title rivals, Charles Akonnor’s charges will move to 71 points with a victory, securing a record-extending 22nd league title if they take maximum points against the Francis Xavier-coached Mara Sugar.

However, Ingwe can extend their late title charge with a win against an in-form APS Bomet side.

A victory for Leopards will take the title race down to the wire in the final matchweek, provided Gor Mahia fails to secure all three points in Homa Bay.
