AFC Leopards brace for APS Bomet as FKF PL race enters penultimate stage

AFC Leopards’ quest for the elusive Football Kenya Premier League title continues this weekend with a tricky trip to Kericho Green Stadium, where APS Bomet awaits the league challengers on Sunday, May 24, 2026.

Ingwe will lock horns against the in-form Sammy Omollo’s side at 3:00 pm as they continue their sustained pursuit of leaders Gor Mahia in what has been a nail-biting Premier League title race.

High-stakes

Just like their two other past league fixtures, the high-stakes encounter in Kericho comes as a must-win clash for Fred Ambani’s team, who remain the sole challengers capable of wresting the title out of Gor Mahia’s grasp.

Leopards are, however, staring at a bleak prospect, with matters no longer in their hands, heading into the final two fixtures.

Log leader Gor Mahia, on 68 points, will wrap up the league title with a win in their next trip to Mara Sugar. K’Ogalo moved closer to the magic 71-point mark on Sunday, May 17, 2026.

Charles Akonnor’s lads warmed up to their penultimate clash against Mara Sugar by thrashing Murang’a Seal 3-1 at Nyayo National Stadium and now have one hand already on the trophy, if their unbridled celebration after the Seal game is anything to go by.

The victory moved them on a four-point cushion, restoring their precious buffer, after Ingwe had similarly responded in emphatic fashion to thump Kakamega Homeboyz in the Saturday, May 16, 2026, matchup in Mumias to stretch the thrilling title race.

APS threat

Leopards keep wary of an improved host currently enjoying a high run of morale and on an eight-game unbeaten run under former Gor Mahia coach Sammy Pamzo Omolo.

Pamzo has been at the centre of the resilient run, pulling the side to Premier League safety after stringing together five consecutive wins in their most recent outings.

It remains to be seen how they approach the clash against an Ingwe side that has vowed to give all to the title race until the final fixture.
