Phil Foden commits future to Manchester City with fresh 2030 contract

Phil Foden has pledged his long-term future to Manchester City after signing a new four-year extension that will see him remain at the Etihad Stadium until 2030.
The England international, now 26, has spent his entire football journey with City, having joined the club’s Academy at the age of nine. Nearly two decades later, he continues to be one of the club’s standout success stories.
Since making his senior debut under Pep Guardiola in 2017, Foden has developed into one of Manchester City’s most successful players. During that time, he has collected 20 major trophies, including six Premier League crowns, five League Cups, three FA Cups, three Community Shields, the UEFA Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
His outstanding performances have also earned individual recognition. Among his honours are the PFA Players’ Player of the Year, Football Writers’ Association Footballer of the Year and Premier League Player of the Season awards for the 2023/24 campaign.
Earlier this year, Foden reached another milestone by becoming only the sixth City player to contribute to 100 Premier League goals. He is also among a select group of just 20 footballers to score at least 100 goals for the club throughout its 132-year history.

Speaking after extending his stay, Foden expressed his pride at continuing his journey with the club he has always supported.
“Committing my future to City means everything to me,” he said.
“Playing for this Club is all I’ve ever wanted to do and it’s always an honour to wear the shirt.
“It’s not lost on me that I’ve been lucky enough to be part of a historic period with so many titles won, but we’re always looking to the future and trying to win more.
“I can only thank the Club, staff, team-mates and fans who continue to put their faith in me and trust that I give everything I can for City and I hope I’ll be able to repay you for years to come.
“I can’t wait to work with Enzo again. He was brilliant during the Treble season, someone all the players respected and loved working with. To have him back here is exciting.
“Personally, I know I’ve improved so much from working with our coaches and world-class squad and as many of the legends who were here when I first broke through move on, I am excited for the next phase of my career at this great Club.” He said.
Viana praises Foden
Manchester City’s Director of Football Hugo Viana praised the midfielder’s journey from academy prospect to first-team star.
“Everyone at Manchester City is incredibly proud of Phil.
“He represents everything good about our Academy. He is a unique talent, and his creativity is a joy to watch.
“But none of what he has achieved would be possible without the focus, dedication and humility to work hard in every moment and absorb all of the knowledge available to him through our coaches and players.” He stated.
Foden’s rise has been closely linked with one of the most successful periods in Manchester City’s history. Growing under Guardiola’s guidance while learning alongside players such as David Silva, Kevin De Bruyne, Bernardo Silva and Rodri, he has developed into one of England’s finest attacking talents.
Capable of operating across several attacking positions, his technical quality, passing range, finishing ability and creativity make him one of the Premier League’s most dangerous players. His ability to produce moments of brilliance from almost any area of the pitch has consistently troubled opposing defences.
Although he featured in City’s record-breaking “Centurions” campaign, the “Fourmidables” season and the historic Treble-winning side, his finest individual campaign arrived in 2023/24. Playing mainly through the middle, he inspired City to a fourth consecutive Premier League title while scoring 19 league goals.
That remarkable season earned him the biggest individual honours in English football, cementing his reputation as one of the country’s elite players.
