Manchester United can win the Premier League this season – Lenny Yoro
By Luke Oluoch, August 2, 2026French defender Leny Yoro has backed Manchester United to win the Premier League in the upcoming season.
The Red Devils are angling for a new season under Michael Carrick’s first full season in charge at Old Trafford. The club returned for pre-season having won two and lost one of their games.
Carrick led United to a third-place finish after replacing Ruben Amorim in January 2026, and went on to improve the club’s fortunes on the pitch to clinch a return to Champions League football.
During the Englishman’s tenure, United won 12 of his 17 league games in charge, topping the form table since his appointment after wins over the likes of Arsenal, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea.
Asked whether he believes United can win the league, Yoro told the press, “Yeah, of course. We are Man Utd, so we have to think like that. And I know we have the potential to do it, so we have to do it.

“The mood is really good. We work really hard, and outside the pitch, we have a good vibe and a good mood.
“So the target this season is to win every game, to be honest. For the team to be the best, for myself to do good games every time, to win trophies, and to be at the top,” he said.
Carrick on United’s squad
His sentiments come after Carrick gave a thumbs-up to his charges following Saturday, August 1, 2026, 2-1 win over Atletico Madrid in Stockholm.
“There was a lot of good in things that we are looking to improve on. Building on what we did for the last seven months, I think there is a lot of good signs for us, it’s never going to be the exact stage we want to be at.
“But I thought there were really a lot of positives to take out of the game, individually, collectively as a team, senior players looking strong and fit, and the younger players doing really well,” he said in an interview with MUTV.
