Liverpool keen on Bournemouth’s Rayan amid pursuing Barcola
By Joel Masibo, July 29, 2026Liverpool are reportedly unwilling to end their search for attacking reinforcements even if they complete the anticipated signing of Bradley Barcola, with Bournemouth youngster Rayan Vitor still featuring prominently in the club’s transfer plans.
The Brazilian forward has impressed since arriving in the Premier League, quickly establishing himself as one of the division’s most promising young talents during an outstanding debut spell with Bournemouth. Despite Liverpool’s admiration, securing his signature this summer is expected to be extremely difficult.
Reds maintaining interest in Rayan
According to reports, Liverpool intend to keep monitoring Rayan regardless of whether Barcola joins the club in what could become a record-breaking transfer.
The Merseyside side had already identified the 19-year-old as a top prospect before he departed Vasco da Gama, and they are understood to have explored the possibility of signing him earlier in the current transfer window.
Their interest has only grown following his impressive start in England. The winger contributed five goals and two assists in his opening 15 Premier League appearances, strengthening Liverpool’s belief that he could become a major asset in the future.
However, Bournemouth remain determined to keep hold of the teenager. The Cherries are under no immediate pressure to negotiate, as his reported £130 million release clause will not come into effect until 2027, allowing them to dictate any discussions this summer.
Liverpool eye long-term attacking rebuild
Should Liverpool eventually succeed in bringing both Barcola and Rayan to Anfield, the club would boast one of Europe’s most exciting collections of young wide players.
Barcola is viewed as a player capable of making an instant impact and helping replace much of Mohamed Salah’s attacking influence, while Rayan is admired for his speed, direct style, dribbling ability and enormous potential for future development.
When Bournemouth signed the Brazilian, club officials described him as a “highly-rated” and “exciting” prospect, and his rapid adjustment to Premier League football has only reinforced that assessment.
Head coach Andoni Iraola, who has already worked closely with Rayan, is believed to rate the teenager extremely highly and sees him as a player with exceptional potential.
Nevertheless, Bournemouth’s position remains firm. Having invested in the youngster and watched him flourish almost immediately, the club has little motivation to sanction a sale.
Unless Liverpool table an extraordinary bid, any realistic move may have to wait until 2027, when Rayan’s release clause becomes active.
Even so, Liverpool’s continued pursuit of another elite young winger, despite their efforts to sign Barcola, underlines the club’s determination to reshape its attack for the years beyond Salah rather than relying on a single replacement.
