All the English Premier League head coaches for the 2026/27 season

With the new era of the 2026/27 Premier League season just over a month away, Newcastle United is the sole team with no head coach following the departure of Eddie Howe.
The Englishman stepped down from his role on Friday, July 31, 2026, ending a five-year tenure at the St James’ Park outfit.
Meanwhile, the English top league is set to feature an undisputed tactical reign of Spanish head coaches across English football.
Leading the charge is Mikel Arteta, now the league’s longest-serving boss, who guided Arsenal to their first Premier League title in 22 years while earning manager of the season honours.
Unai Emery is also set to continue his transformative spell at Aston Villa, having led the Midlands club to new heights after lifting the 2026 Europa League trophy.
The summer of 2026 has also seen more Spanish coaches join the EPL, making the country with the most nationals on the dugouts as the head coach.
Enzo Maresca, Andoni Iraola, and Xabi Alonso are the new managers for the three clubs, Manchester City, Liverpool, and Chelsea, heading into the new season.
Andoni Iraola secured one of the summer’s biggest moves, taking the reins at Liverpool after a historic campaign with Bournemouth that earned the Cherries European qualification for the first time.
Iraola brings his relentless high-intensity pressing to Anfield, stepping into a high-stakes rebuild after a star-studded side failed to impress in Arne Slot’s second season, prompting the Dutchman’s dismissal.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea turned to former Liverpool player and former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso.
The decorated midfielder’s arrival adds world-class pedigree to West London as the Blues look for solid footing in the league after a spell of trial and error with managers.
Meanwhile, Fulham is another London club set to start off a new chapter with a new gaffer following another former Premier League player, appointed in Álvaro Arbeloa.
Just as Alonso, the ex-Liverpool player, transitions from Real Madrid to succeed Portuguese Marco Silva, who was in charge at Craven Cottage.
Beyond the Spanish tactical block, several other Premier League clubs unveiled new gaffers for the 2026/27 campaign:
- Manchester City: Enzo Maresca made his return and will be the Blues coach following Pep Guardiola’s departure.
- Bournemouth: Replaced Iraola with former RB Leipzig boss Marco Rose. Rose has a splendid season in Geman league and will be similar tides on English soil.
- Tottenham Hotspur: Entrusted its rebuild to Roberto De Zerbi. The former EpL manager with Brightin has already started his preseason on a high after Spurs’ 2-1 win over Chelsea on Saturday, August 1, 2026.
He orchestrated Spurs’ survival last season and now handed the full reins of the ambitious capital club.
- Nottingham Forest: Hired former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, who made a shocking switch from the South London club to join the Garibalds.
- Crystal Palace: Handed the leadership role to French tactician Pierre Sage. The French tactician joins from French Ligue 1.
- Ipswich Town: Brought in former Wolves coach Gary O’Neil following Kieran McKenna’s exit.
Frank Lampard, the championship title-winning manager, returns to the top flight with Coventry City, while Sergej Jakirović leads Hull City after they edged Southampton in the playoff game.
