EPL footballer dropped amid investigation into social media posts

English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth have dropped defender Alex Jimenez from their squad while they investigate posts on social media.
The 21-year-old Spaniard, who arrived from AC Milan last summer, will not feature in Saturday’s Premier League fixture against Fulham this Saturday, May 9, 2026.
In a statement on Friday, May 8, 2026, the South Coast club said they are investigating a serious matter pertaining to posts of the defender making rounds on social media
“AFC Bournemouth are aware of posts circulating on social media involving right-back Alex Jimenez. The club understands the seriousness of the matter, and it is currently being investigated,” the club stated.
In addition to the investigations, the club has stated that it will not be making no further comment at this time.
“As a result, Alex will not be included in the squad for tomorrow’s Premier League game against Fulham and the club will be making no further comment at this time,” the club added.

Jimenez joined the Cherries initially on loan, before securing a permanent deal with the south coast side in February 2026, on a deal running until 2031.

He has made 32 appearances for the club this season and scored once, in the dramatic 3-2 win against Arne Slot’s Liverpool.
The defender arrived from AC Milan having come through the prestigious academy at Real Madrid.
He made a strong impression during his time at the Vitality Stadium, becoming a regular presence and gaining recognition weekly.
The fullback won the club’s Player of the Month award for December, while also winning Sky Sports’ Man of the Match accolade in the 1-1 draw with Brighton just last month.
According to reports, the issue revolves around screenshots of the player texting a 15-year-old girl.
