Elvis Rupia and Omalla steal the show in CAF Inter-clubs competitions
Harambee Stars ace Elvis Rupia and his Nairobi United counterpart Duncan Omalla were the bright spots for their respective sides as the CAF Inter-clubs competition returned to action on Saturday, January 25, 2026, across the continent.
Omalla bagged a solo goal as Kenya’s representatives, Nairobi United, failed to impress, losing 1-2 at home to Tanzanian giants Azam FC on Sunday, January 25, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium.
Omalla extends goal-scoring run
Omalla scored a superb first-half opener, showing rare composure and awareness to cleverly lob an excellent first-time effort past the Azam goalkeeper for Naibos’s lead.
The strike, however, proved short-lived after Congolese Jepthe Kitambala capitalised on an indecisive defense to bag an almost instant equaliser in the clash and get the visitors leveled.
An own goal from Naibois keeper Ernest Mohammed, however, snapped the Kenyan search for a maiden win in the CAF Confederations Cup games as Salim Ali’s charges remained bottom of their group after match day 4.
A fine goal from the attacker saw him continue his scoring run in the continental stages, having also scored against Uganda’s NEC in the prelimiary stages.
Kenya’s best performance of the match day fell to Elvis Rupia, who bagged the all-important goal in Singida Black Stars’ win over AS Otoho on Sunday.
Nicknamed Machapo, the former AFC and Nakuru AllStars striker decided the match in favour of the Tanzanians.

The Tanzanian side, coached by former Harambee Starlets boss David Ouma, now sits third in the group with 4 points, with three matches remaining.
CR Belouizdad of Algeria lead the standings with 6 points; Stellenbosch of South Africa are second on the same points and goal difference as Singida, while Otoho are fourth with 3 points.
In other CAF interclub matches, Young Africans and Duke Abuya slumped to a 2-0 defeat to giants Al Ahly.
The Tanzanian champions failed to find their mojo against the record African champions in Egypt. Meanwhile,
