PSG or Arsenal? Football legends predict 2026 UEFA Champions League winner

Ahead of the highly anticipated UEFA Champions League final pitting Paris Saint-Germain against Arsenal on Saturday, May 30, 2026, several football legends have shared their predictions for the blockbuster clash in Budapest.

The star-studded lineup of pundits features former Barcelona icons Xavi Hernandez and Yaya Toure, alongside English Premier League greats Theo Walcott, John Obi Mikel, and Rio Ferdinand.

While some are backing Arsenal to cap off a historic season after ending a 22-year wait for the domestic title, others believe PSG’s formidable star power will be too much for the Gunners to handle.

While a few legends made their declarations during live interviews, the most dramatic moments occurred when a group of pundits present at the Legends festival event were tasked with writing down their exact score predictions and displaying them directly to the camera.

Manchester duo torn between

Former Manchester City playmaker David Silva and ex-Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand both predicted a narrow 1-0 victory for Arsenal.

On his part, Barcelona midfield maestro Xavi Hernandez was even more bullish about PSG’s chances, tipping Luis Enrique’s side to secure a comfortable 3-1 victory.

Meanwhile, the legendary lineup also included former Arsenal fan favourites Theo Walcott and Santi Cazorla. The iconic attacking duo, famed for their time together in North London, naturally remained loyal to their former club.

Both the Englishman and the Spaniard independently predicted a hard-fought 2-1 triumph for Arsenal.

Johan Djourou, a former Gunner, similarly predicted in favour of Mikel Arteta’s lads.

Former England defender Ashley Cole, whose controversial move from Arsenal to Chelsea in the mid-2000s still rubs the red side of London the wrong way, also threw his hat into the ring. The current Italy-based coach sensationally predicted a tense 2-2 draw.

The expert consensus leaning toward PSG aligns with earlier comments made by Dutch legend Wesley Sneijder, who also tipped the Parisian outfit to edge past the Gunners in the final.

Sneijder’s call

“If I have to say who I think will win, I would say PSG. But Arsenal are not conceding goals easily; they have a very strong defense with two central defenders of top quality,” Sneijder noted.

“However, I do not believe Arsenal’s full-backs are the best players in the Champions League, and that is precisely where PSG have immense power, especially on the left side. Everyone with an Arsenal heart hopes Jurriën Timber will be fully recovered and back for the final.”

The clash will kick off at 7:00 pm.
