CAF CL: Moses Shumah’s Power Dynamos pick up maiden point
By Luke Oluoch, January 26, 2026Moses Shumah’s Power Dyanmos picked up their first point of the Confederation of African Football (CAF) Champions League Group Stage after playing Nigeria’s Rivers United to a goalless draw at the Levy Mwanawasa Stadium in Ndola on Sunday, January 26, 2026.
The Harambee Stars striker entered the fray in the second half as AbaYellow stepped up attacks for match’s opener.
Oswald Mutapa’s side dominated the early exchanges and showed plenty of intent and attacking ambition.
Dominance
Power made a bright start and nearly went ahead inside the opening 10 minutes when Eddy Ankobo was presented with a close-range opportunity, but Rivers United goalkeeper, Onisodumeya Osagie, reacted quickly to make a save.
The visitors’ shot-stopper was again called into action in the 21st minute, racing off his line to deny Chifundo Mphasi after a well-worked passing move by Power.
The hosts continued to dominate proceedings, with Prince Mumba going close around the half-hour mark, only to be denied by another strong save as Rivers were forced to absorb sustained pressure.
Shumah came close towards the closing stages of the game, testing the goalkeeper from long range, which the keeper dealt with.

The draw left the reigning Zambian champions with a point after three games and at the bottom of the log.
Dynamos’ campaign started on a low note with back-to-back losses against Berkane and Wydad Casablanca.
Shumah at Dynamos
The team will next travel to face Rivers United in an away fixture of the group before travelling for a return clash against RS Berkane.
Shumah, who is the reigning Kenya Premier League top scorer, joined Power at the start of the season from Kakamega Homeboyz.
The attacker has been on a fine showing as the club started the 2025 season on a high. Among his standout club moments are his brace against Napsa Stars and goals against Vipers SC in the second round stage of the CAF inter-club competitions.
He led the league scoring charts with 17 goals, a feat earning him a move to the record-time Zambia champions.
