Bayern Munich not interested in signing replacement for Jamal Musiala

By , August 20, 2026

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have decided not to enter the transfer market for another attacking midfielder despite uncertainty surrounding Jamal Musiala’s situation.

There had been speculation that the German champions could look for additional cover before the transfer window closes, particularly if Musiala were forced to spend an extended period away from football following his health concerns. However, reports from Germany indicate the club have now opted to remain with their current options.

According to Sky Germany’s Florian Plettenberg, Bayern have no plans to sign a direct replacement for Musiala. Instead, the club are fully behind the Germany international and are prepared to give him the necessary time and support.

Bayern believe they already have enough alternatives capable of operating in the No. 10 role. Lennart Karl, Ismael Saibari and Serge Gnabry are among the players who can provide options in that position.

The situation is not entirely straightforward, however, as Karl and Gnabry are currently dealing with injuries. Nevertheless, Bayern have concluded that adding another player is unnecessary at this stage.

Musiala’s condition has attracted considerable attention following his recent on-field incidents. The club will be hoping that his situation can be properly managed and that he can eventually return to playing without further problems.

Bayern’s decision therefore represents a show of confidence in both their existing squad and Musiala himself. Rather than rushing into the market, the Bundesliga giants appear comfortable allowing the midfielder the time he needs while relying on their current attacking options.

Other transfer developments

Elsewhere, Galatasaray are exploring a possible move for RB Leipzig striker Conrad Harder. The Turkish club have reportedly opened discussions and would prefer a loan deal that includes an option to buy, although Leipzig are believed to be more interested in a permanent transfer.

Harder is reportedly receptive to the move, leaving the final decision with the German club.

Meanwhile, Darwin Núñez is set to move from Al Hilal to Saudi Pro League side Al Diriyah on loan until June 2027. A verbal agreement has reportedly been reached, with Al Hilal covering the striker’s salary. The proposed deal does not currently include a purchase option, while the necessary formalities and medical examination remain to be completed.

AC Milan winger Rafael Leão is also attracting interest from Galatasaray, although negotiations have reportedly stalled over his €50 million valuation (approximately Ksh7.50 billion). The Turkish side are believed to consider that figure too expensive, despite previous discussions between the clubs.

In England, former Borussia Mönchengladbach defender Nico Elvedi has completed his move to Leeds United.

Napoli, meanwhile, are exploring several options as they search for attacking reinforcements. Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee and Chelsea striker Nicolas Jackson are reportedly among the players being considered.

Jackson could be difficult to acquire because of his reported £65 million (approximately Ksh11.36 billion) valuation, while Zirkzee is also attracting interest from Juventus. Napoli could alternatively look at Arsenal forward Gabriel Jesus, who is reportedly available for around £30 million (approximately Ksh5.24 billion).

For now, though, Bayern’s primary focus remains on supporting Musiala rather than finding a replacement. The club believe their squad possesses enough depth to handle the situation while waiting for their star midfielder to be ready to return.
