The 70th edition of the prestigious award will be held on Monday, October 26, 2026, marking the first time the ceremony will take place in the English capital.
The event will be staged at the London Palladium, as organisers celebrate the award’s 70th anniversary and honour the legacy of Sir Stanley Matthews, the first Ballon d’Or winner in 1956.
Organised by France Football in collaboration with UEFA, the ceremony will crown the successors to the current holders of the men’s and women’s awards, Ousmane Dembélé and Aitana Bonmatí.
Why London is hosting the ceremony
The decision to move the ceremony from its traditional Paris setting is part of the award’s continued global expansion.
London’s selection also carries historical significance, with the organisers paying tribute to Sir Stanley Matthews, the English winger who won the inaugural Ballon d’Or seven decades ago.
The official list of nominees will be announced later, with players judged on their performances during the 2025–26 season, including club achievements, individual statistics, influence on matches and international performances.
