Aldrine Kibet’s rising stock in Spain has continued to gather momentum, with the Harambee Star ace earning his maiden call-up to the Celta Vigo Fortunas team.

Kibet, who featured for Celta Vigo’s youth side Canterra, achieved the career milestone on Saturday, January 31, 2026, and is now in contention for a debut with the La Liga club team B.

He has been confirmed in the 18-man squad for the team trip to Unionistas this weekend, making him the second Kenyan to feature for a La Liga team B side after Job Nguone Ochieng of the Real Sociedad B team.

First ever call-up

“Aldrine gets his first-ever call-up with Celta B for today’s match against Unionistas. Big move, this is serious vibes — mambo iko fresh!” part of Celta Vigo’s statement on the youngster read.

The achievement comes after the former St. Anthony’s Boys ace helped his team to a win over

Kibet joined the La Liga side in 2025 and has made tremendous career growth since then.

He first earned his senior Harambee Stars call-up in September 2025, for FIFA friendly ties against Madagascar and Comoros, under head coach Benni McCarthy, a former striker who also played for Celta Vigo in his heyday.

First team

The 18-year-old, whose journey began in Kitale before taking him to Spain’s Nastic Academy, has been an integral part of Celta Fortuna’s team since his arrival in July 2025, making good use of his footballing skills and attacking repertoire that made him a household name in Kenyan football.

He has so far featured extensively for the club in ties against Gijon and Braga for the Celta U19 teams.

His recent eye-catching performance, however, came on Wednesday, January 28, 2026, in a knockout clash of the Youth King’s Cup in Spain.

The youngster registered a goal and an assist as the team secured a 4–3 victory over Atlético de Madrid to advance to the competition’s last eight.
