WAFCON Monday fixtures: Which countries are playing, where and what time

The 2026 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) shifts its attention to Group B on Monday July 27, 2026, with two fixtures set for Casablanca, Morocco.
East Africa will have its eyes on the opener as Tanzania tackle defending champions South Africa, before Ivory Coast face Burkina Faso in a West African clash later in the night.
South Africa test East African neighbours Tanzania
Title holders South Africa launch their campaign against Tanzania at the Moulay Rachid Stadium in Casablanca, starting at 8:00 PM East African Time (EAT).
South Africa arrive in Casablanca following a week of intensive training in North Africa.
Head coach Dr Desiree Ellis acknowledged the challenge ahead, noting that opening fixtures often shape a team’s tournament run.
“The first match is very important as it sets the tone for the rest of the tournament, you have to go all out with guns blazing,” Ellis told reporters ahead of the match.
Ellis expects a tough battle against the East Africans, pointing to previous meetings between the two teams.
“We have faced Tanzania a couple of times before and the games have been very tight, they can play and they bring a lot of physicality, but we have dealt with teams like these in the past and we have prepared extremely well for the game,” she added.
Tanzania, eager to build a strong name on the continent, aim to pull off a surprise result against the champions and put their first points on the board.
Ivory Coast clash with Burkina Faso in late kickoff
The second match of the day brings together Ivory Coast and Burkina Faso at the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca, kicking off at 11:00 PM EAT.
Both sides want an early win to boost their hopes of advancing from Group B.
Under the 16-team format, the top two teams in each group alongside the four best third-placed finishers will secure places in the quarter-finals.
The tournament in Morocco also serves as the qualifying route for the next FIFA Women’s World Cup, giving every group stage encounter added stakes.
