AFC Leopards’ top official explains why tickets for Shabana tie have been hiked

By , February 28, 2026

AFC Leopards Secretary General Isaac Mulindi has shed light on the decision behind the hiking of ticket prices for the so-called high-frequency matches, such as the Sunday, March 1, 2026, clash against Shabana FC at the Nayayo National Stadium.

According to information on the club portal, the tickets will be retailing at Ksh300 for terraces, with those in the VIP retailing at Ksh1000 each.

Normally, the tickets retail at Ksh200 for terraces. The club has, however, announced that it will be having a flash sale of the tickets running from noon to 6:00 pm.

Flash sales

“We will have a flash sale for terrace tickets for our match against Shabana FC today from 12.00 (noon) to 6.00 pm. Terrace tickets will be sold for 300/=,” a statement from the club on Saturday, February 28, 2026, read.

Mulindi has defended the ticket pricing strategy, terming it as key to avoiding last-minute rushes at the gates and also offering fans a more enjoyable experience on matchdays.

“We have asked for four days to buy it at 300. What we are doing is to mitigate issues of late arrivals and arrangements. We are telling fans to buy tickets early at 300 and avoid delays. Additionally, when fans buy their tickets early, we can plan the affairs of the club in time and adequately.

“At other times we have had the prices reduced to Ksh100 or 200, but still people did not purchase them,” he added.

Club’s tradition

The official has also said that the pattern will soon become a tradition, as they seek to streamline the ticketing and stadium access for their home matches.

“Towards the end, we will be doing early tickets and promoting them from Fridays to offer ample time for fans to buy,” he opined.

Mulili also addressed the plans to streamline the club’s media department for better fan engagement, aimed at relaying information about the happenings around the club.

Regarding the administrative function, following the coming to power of the Bonface Ambani-led team in July 2025, the SG shared the new administration’s intent of establishing far-reaching reforms to make the running and operation more efficient and transparent.

Mulili has concluded that the current administration is focused on to the club and act as a

“We are seven months into the office; when we finish our tenure, you will see the changes in AFC. We want to make reforms and set precedents that other teams will feel obliged to follow too,” he stated.

According to the SG, part of the reform will touch on imparting mentorship programs to the playing unit.

“We are also looking to have mentorship classes for our players and impart on them skills and a mindset on how to have a focused approach to their profession and properly view football as a profession,” he added.
