‘There’s a change in kick-off time for our FKF-PL home match against Kenya Police FC this Saturday at Nyayo Stadium. The match will now kick off at 3:00 pm,” the statement read, in brief.

Bracing for Police

AFC Leopards have stepped up preparation for their league clash against the law enforcers with two important friendly encounters in Nairobi. In an update on Saturday, April 11, 2026, Ingwe ran out 4-1 winners over Kariobangi Legends in the first test match.

Tyson Otieno, who has been in fine form for the second-placed club, headlined the acts on the goals, helping himself to a brace.

Ugandan Samuel Ssenyonjo and left-back Vincent Mahiga added the other goals to sink the Ezekiel Akwana-led opposition.

In the second tie, Leopards carried on the winning momentum with a solitary goal win over Lavington Sportiff, thanks to Andrew Waswa’s lone strike.

On the other hand, Police will be seeking to bounce back after sharing spoils in a barren draw with Mathare United in a rescheduled league clash on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at Kasarani Stadium.

Title race

Notably, the 2025/26 Football Kenya Federation Premier League title race is shaping up to deliver one of its most dramatic finishes in recent history, with arch rivals AFC Leopards and Gor Mahia on course for a tense battle for supremacy.

For the first time in 14 years, and only the second time this century, the two Kenyan giants could take the title fight down to the wire, rekindling one of the fiercest rivalries in African football.

The race took a decisive twist on Tuesday, April 14, 2026, when Gor Mahia suffered a shocking 1-0 defeat to Tusker FC at Wang’uru Stadium. The unexpected loss threw the title race wide open, giving AFC Leopards renewed hope of ending their long wait for league glory.

Ahead of the 99th edition of the famous Mashemeji Derby pitting the two regional giants on Sunday, April 26, 2026, at the Nyayo National Stadium, Gor Mahia lead the pack with 57 points, two above AFC Leopards.
