AFC Leopards coach reveals secrets behind team’s resurgence

The former KPL giants are currently locked in a fierce two-horse race with Gor Mahia, with fewer than seven games remaining.
Speaking in an interview with the club’s portal on Friday, April 10, 2026, Ambani explained that much of the progress has been a product of off-pitch and on-pitch dedication. He specifically mentioned the team’s management and the entire Ingwe fraternity for the sustained spell of success.
Teamwork
“It has been a collective effort. Teamwork is working for us, and I have to appreciate the entire team for the work,” stated Ambani, who bagged the March Coach of the Month accolade.
“We also have to thank our fans. Without them checking on us, we could have slacked off; they have been immense in coming to the team’s games. The management has also been instrumental with their support, ensuring players get paid on time and the boys stay motivated. I want to encourage them to continue what they are doing, and the results will show,” he stated.
Game approach
On imparting the right mentality of the team amid the tight league race:
“We have ensured the player understands the value of winning while not putting them under undue pressure. I have taken things easy and made them understand that we have to win our matches, and it is what they have been doing,” he stated.

The coach also gave a special mention to his crop of players, whom he believes have been the drivers of the sterling show on the pitch, having handled the pressure of the league chase with the right attitude.

“For the players, my gratitude is one that words cannot express. I appreciate and respect all they have done, and I will keep doing so beyond the results,” he added.
His remarks come as Ingwe angles to continue their chase for the league title against defending champions Police FC on Saturday, April 11, 2026.
