Kenya is set to experience a mix of rainfall, hot days, and chilly nights this week, according to the Kenya Meteorological Department.

Residents across various parts of the country are advised to prepare for changing weather conditions from December 16 to December 22, 2025.

In a public notice, the weatherman stated that rainfall is expected in several regions, including the Highlands on both the eastern and western sides of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley itself, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coast, as well as the Northeastern and Southeastern lowlands.

“This Week’s Weather Forecast | 16th–22nd December 2025. Rainfall: •Rainfall expected across the Highlands (East & West of the Rift Valley), Rift Valley, Lake Victoria Basin, Coast, North-eastern, and South-eastern lowlands,” the weatherman stated.

The showers are likely to affect daily activities, especially in areas prone to flooding, and motorists are advised to exercise caution while on the roads.

Daytime temperatures are expected to rise above 30 degrees Celsius in parts of the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya.

Some areas in the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Western Kenya will also experience high temperatures. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and take precautions against heat-related illnesses.

At night, temperatures will drop significantly, with minimums falling below 10 degrees Celsius in parts of the Central Highlands, North and Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and regions near Mount Kilimanjaro.

The cooler nights may require warmer clothing, particularly for those living in higher altitude areas.

“Hot Days: •Daytime highs above 30°C in the Coast, North-eastern, North-western Kenya, and parts of the South-eastern lowlands, Rift Valley, and Western Kenya. Cool Nights: •Minimum temperatures below 10°C in parts of the Central Highlands, North & Central Rift Valley, Western Kenya, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro,” Kenya Met Department announced.
