Weatherman predicts dry and sunny conditions across most parts of country

Dry and sunny conditions are expected across much of Kenya this week.

According to a weather update shared by the Kenya Meteorological Department on Tuesday, January 20, 2026, occasional rainfall may occur in a few areas, particularly in the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the south-eastern lowlands.

Daytime temperatures are expected to rise in several regions, with the Coast, North-eastern and North-western Kenya, parts of the south-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands west of the Rift Valley likely to experience temperatures above 30°C. Residents are advised to stay hydrated and protect themselves from the heat.

“This Week’s Weather Forecast | 20th–26th January 2026. Predominantly sunny and dry conditions are anticipated across several parts of the country. However, occasional rainfall is expected in a few areas, especially the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the South-eastern lowlands,” the weatherman announced.

Adding;

“Hot Conditions: Daytime (maximum) temperatures above 30°C are expected in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya, as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and the Highlands West of the Rift Valley.”

Night-time temperatures will be cooler in high-altitude areas. Parts of the Highlands east and west of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro are expected to see temperatures drop below 10°C, creating chilly conditions after sunset.

The combination of hot days and cool nights is typical for this time of the year. Residents are encouraged to plan their activities accordingly and take precautions in areas that may experience rainfall.

“Cool Nights: Night-time (minimum) temperatures below 10°C are expected in parts of the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, and areas near Mt. Kilimanjaro,” Kenya Meteorological Department predicted.”
