By , July 28, 2026

The Kenya Meteorological Department has warned that night-time temperatures will fall below 10°C in parts of 10 counties over the coming days, as the country experiences varying weather conditions ranging from cold nights and rainfall to hot daytime temperatures and strong winds.

In its Maximum Temperature Outlook for July 28 – August 3, 2026, Kenya Met said night-time (minimum) average temperatures of less than 10°C are expected in parts of Meru, Tharaka Nithi, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Nyeri, Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nakuru, Kajiado and Taita Taveta counties.

Residents in the affected areas should prepare for chilly nights by dressing warmly, especially children, older adults and people with underlying health conditions who may be more vulnerable to cold weather.

While some parts of the country brace for cold nights, Kenya Met said several counties will continue experiencing high daytime temperatures.

According to the forecast, daytime (maximum) average temperatures of more than 30°C are expected in much of Kilifi, Tana River, Lamu, Garissa, Wajir, Isiolo, Marsabit, Samburu and Turkana counties during the forecast period.

Residents in these areas have been encouraged to stay hydrated, avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day and take necessary precautions against heat-related illnesses.
