We entrust justice to God: Pastor Dorcas Rigathi honours fallen Gen Z protesters
By Valerian Khakayi, June 25, 2026Pastor Dorcas Rigathi has paid tribute to young Kenyans who lost their lives during last year’s Gen Z-led protests, urging the nation to remember them while entrusting justice to God.
In a message titled Commemoration and Prayer – For Fallen Gen Z, shared on Thursday, June 25, 2026, Pastor Dorcas reflected on the sacrifices made by young people who took to the streets to speak out against injustice and economic hardship.
“Today we remember and honour the Gen Z sons and daughters who died in Kenya, especially those of June 24. They were young people who spoke against injustice and hardship, raising their voices for a better nation,” she wrote.
Pastor Dorcas acknowledged the pain experienced by those who lost their loved ones, saying their absence continues to be deeply felt.
“We acknowledge the deep pain of their families and communities. Their loss is profound and cannot be replaced,” she added.

She also noted that no amount of compensation could make up for the loss of a human life, adding that the country cannot ignore the grief and violence that marked that period.
“We cannot ignore the grief and violence that has marked this season. No compensation can equal a life. Yet we trust that God sees, hears, and will act in His justice,” she stated.
Justice for the victims
Drawing from Psalm 9:19-20, Pastor Dorcas encouraged Kenyans to remain hopeful despite the challenges facing the nation. She urged citizens not to live in fear and reminded leaders and the public alike that ultimate authority belongs to God.
Additionally, she highlighted three key reflections: refusing to live in fear, entrusting justice to God, and remembering humanity’s limitations before God.
“In this moment, we hold onto hope. We will not live in fear. God is greater than corrupt systems and human power. We entrust justice to God, who judges rightly and in His timing, and we remember our place before Him: we are but human, and He alone is sovereign,” she added.

She also prayed for the families of those who died, asking God to comfort the bereaved, heal the nation, and bring justice where there is pain.
“My Prayer: Arise, O LORD. Comfort grieving families, heal our nation, and bring justice where there is pain. Let leaders remember their limits, and let righteousness prevail over injustice. We trust You. Amen,” she prayed.
Her message comes as Kenyans mark the anniversary of the June 2024 anti-government protests, which saw thousands of young people demonstrate across the country. The protests, largely driven by Gen Z, were sparked by concerns over governance, taxation, and the rising cost of living.
Several people lost their lives during the demonstrations, leaving families and communities grieving.
