Starlet Wahu murder: Court to rule on whether Matara has a case to answer on May 22
By Zipporah Ngwatu, May 14, 2026A Milimani High Court will deliver a ruling on whether John Matara has a case to answer on the murder of socialite Starlet Wahu on May 22, 2026.
This is after the last prosecution witness tendered his testimony before Milimani Judge Alexander Muteti on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
Appearing before Judge Muteti, Maturi Marvin, a doctor at Mbagathi Hospital, produced a medical report of the accused person, Matara.
According to the report, Matara was taken to the facility on January 4, 2024, at 12:07 am with wounds.
The court heard that upon arrival, Matara was attended to in the casualty department’s minor theatre.
Further, the doctor told the court that Matara had cut wounds and bruises on his upper limbs and lower limbs, which were taken care of at the minor theatre.
“My lord, the patient was attended to at the casualty’s minor theatre, and he had cut wounds and bruises on his upper limbs and lower limbs,” Doctor Maturi told the court.
However, Maturi told the court that he was not the doctor who first attended to the accused at Mbangathi Hospital.

He said that he attended to him on January 25, 2024, and used the earlier records of the accused as documented earlier.
During cross-examination by lawyer Samuel Ayora, representing the accused, the doctor was asked if he could tell if the cut wounds were a result of defence.
“When you were doing an observation on the patient, were you able to tell what type of injuries they had? Were they defensive?” Lawyer Ayora asked the doctor.
In his response, Maturi said he is not able to tell.
The court directed all the parties to file their submissions and stated that it would deliver its ruling on whether Matara has a murder case to answer or not.
Wahu was found lifeless in a short-stay apartment at Papino Apartments, in South B, which, according to the evidence tendered in court, was paid for by Matara.
