Southern Bypass, part of Ngong Road to be closed for 14 hours on Sunday, September 27
By William Muthama, September 25, 2026Nairobi motorists using the Southern Bypass, parts of Ngong Road and the Uhuru Gardens–Carnivore stretch will need to plan their journeys in advance on Sunday, September 27, following a 14-hour road closure to facilitate the Jubilee Live Free Race 2026.
In an Instagram post on Friday, September 25, 2026, the organiser announced the road closures, saying, Road closures will be in effect from 12:00 midnight to 2:00 pm on Sunday, 27 September.
The closures will affect the Southern Bypass, part of Ngong Road at the Lenana Interchange and the Uhuru Gardens–Carnivore stretch.
Uhuru Gardens will serve as the start and finish point of the cycling event.
“This Sunday, we’ll be out cycling, pushing through the kilometres and living free at the Jubilee Live Free Race 2026. 🚴🏾♀️🚴🏾♂️As we take over the roads, please note that road closures will be in effect from 12:00 midnight to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, 27 September, “The organiser stated.
Roads to be closed
The Southern Bypass, part of Ngong Road at the Lenana Interchange and the Uhuru Gardens–Carnivore stretch will be affected by the closures.
The organiser urged motorists travelling through the affected areas to plan their routes and allow extra time for their journeys.
“If you’re travelling through these areas, plan your route and allow extra time for your journey,” the organiser said.
The closures will facilitate the cycling event as participants take part in the different race categories.
The Main Race will cover 77.8 kilometres over two loops.

According to the organiser, the Family Fun Ride will turn off at the NHC Southern Bypass.
Uhuru Gardens will host both the start and finish of the races.
Motorists using the affected roads have been advised to make alternative travel arrangements before setting off on Sunday.
The 14-hour closure will run from midnight to 2:00 pm, meaning motorists travelling through the affected areas during the period may need to use alternative routes.
