Traffic builds up along busy highway
The crash has affected traffic movement along the highway, with motorists using the route advised to approach the area cautiously. Vehicles were seen dealing with the disruption as the accident response continued near Simba Cement.
Salgaa has for years been known as a black spot for road accidents, with several crashes reported in the area over time. The latest incident has once again disrupted movement along one of the busy routes connecting different parts of the country.
The accident is among several incidents affecting motorists on Kenyan roads on Saturday, August 22, 2026. Earlier, traffic was also disrupted on the Pipeline-Outering Road after fallen electric lines blocked part of the road, leaving one lane impassable.
Kenya Power said the issue had been taken up by the relevant teams, with efforts to resolve it underway. Motorists using the affected section were advised to use alternative routes where possible as the response continued.
On the Thika Superhighway, motorists also faced delays after a truck broke down near Blue Post, with traffic reported from around Weteithie and Juja to areas beyond Del Monte. The breakdown was said to have contributed to the long traffic snarl-up.
It is therefore a long day for motorists using Kenya’s roads, with several incidents causing delays in different areas. The Salgaa crash has added to the disruptions, leaving traffic building up along the Nakuru-Eldoret Highway as emergency teams continue their response.
