Mudavadi mourns  MP Ng’eno as a courageous leader

Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi has mourned the passing of Emurua Dikirr Member of Parliament Johana Ng’eno, describing him as a courageous and devoted leader.

In a statement on Saturday, February 28, 2026, Mudavadi expressed deep sadness over the tragic helicopter crash in Chepkiep, Mosop Sub-County, Nandi County, which claimed the lives of Ng’eno and five others.

“Ng’eno was a distinguished and courageous legislator who stood firmly for the rights and aspirations of his constituents. He served with conviction, dedication and integrity and, above all, was a devoted family man,” he said.

Mudavadi extended his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family, the residents of Emurua Dikirr, and the families of the other victims.

“May they find strength and comfort during this profoundly difficult time,” he added.

He further urged that the late MP’s legacy of service endure, paying tribute to his unwavering commitment to public service.

“May Hon. Ng’eno’s legacy of service endure, and may his soul rest in eternal peace.”

Ng’eno is among six individuals who died in a helicopter crash in Mosop, Nandi County, on Saturday, February 28, 2026.

The helicopter crashed near Chepkieb Primary School in a densely forested area amid heavy rainfall, which is believed to have contributed to the accident.

Videos circulating online from the scene show the aircraft engulfed in flames, with thick smoke rising above the wreckage.

Charred remains were visible inside the helicopter, partially obscured by thick bushes, while onlookers could be seen milling around the crash site.

The helicopter was an Airbus H125 with registration 5Y-DSB.

The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has announced that it has launched investigations into the Mosop helicopter crash.

In a statement issued on Saturday, February 28, 2026, KCAA confirmed that the accident occurred at approximately 4:30 p.m., involving an AS350 helicopter, registration SY-DSB.

According to the authority, the aircraft was operating a flight from Endebes to Mosoriot when it crashed at Kabiet sub-location in the Mosop area of Nandi Hills.

“At the time of the accident, there were six persons on board. The accident is reported to have been fatal; however, confirmation of casualties and identities will be communicated by the relevant authorities once the next of kin have been duly informed,” the statement read.
