Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria has called on the government to take immediate action to safeguard citizens residing in the countries affected by the escalating conflict involving Iran.

In a statement issued on his official Facebook account on Sunday, March 1, 2026, Mosiria stressed that timely intervention by the government is critical to preventing potential harm and ensuring the safe return of Kenyans abroad.

According to Mosiria, the situation is getting messy and could spiral into something worse.

“it’s getting messy, and with Iran taking no chances in this escalating conflict, the situation could spiral into something far worse. I urgently appeal to our government to prioritise the safety of our citizens and take immediate steps to bring back our children from the affected countries,” Mosiria urged.

The call comes amid rising tensions in the Middle East, where recent military actions and international involvement have created a volatile environment.

Govt on Iran war

This comes after the Kenyan government issued a security advisory to citizens residing in or travelling to the Middle East, urging heightened vigilance amid what it described as an evolving and fluid security situation in parts of the region.

In an official statement issued by the Principal Secretary, State Department for Diaspora Affairs, Roseline Kathure Njogu, on Saturday, February 28, 2026, said that the government is closely monitoring developments and warned that the situation could change without notice.

Njogu further advised Kenyans currently in the region, as well as those planning travel, to exercise caution and strictly follow guidance issued by local authorities and Kenyan diplomatic missions.

“The Government of Kenya is closely monitoring the evolving security situation in parts of the Middle East,” Njogu’s statement reads.

“We urge all Kenyan citizens residing in, or planning to travel to, the region to exercise heightened vigilance. The situation remains fluid and may change without notice.”

The PS, in addition, urged Kenyans in the Middle East to register immediately with the nearest Kenyan Embassy or Consulate and update their contact details, next of kin, and emergency contacts without delay through the diaspora registration platform.

Kenyans were also advised to limit movement, particularly in areas where security operations are ongoing or may occur, and to postpone non-essential travel, especially at night or during curfews and security alerts.

Additionally, citizens were instructed to strictly follow official guidance from host governments and security agencies while monitoring verified updates from Kenyan missions.

Njogu further emphasised the importance of staying connected with family, employers, and Kenyan diplomatic offices, and cautioned against spreading rumours, urging reliance only on official communication channels.
