Mosiria rescues activist stranded on streets after walking from Eldoret to Nairobi
By Charles Ouma, February 6, 2026Nairobi County Chief Officer for Citizen Engagement and Customer Service, Geoffrey Mosiria, has intervened to rescue an activist who was left stranded on the streets after walking from Eldoret to Nairobi.
A video shared by Mosiria across his social media platforms on Friday, February 6, 2026, shows his interaction with the activist, who could barely stand or walk as a result of exhaustion.
The young man explained that he covered a distance of 367 kilometres, taking three days to complete the long walk, which kicked off on Sunday, February 1, 2026.
“Nilipewa ambulance na county ikanipeleka kama kilomita saba ikaniacha, niliflagiwa off na county government (I was assigned an ambulance which accompanied me for about seven kilometres, then left, and I was even flagged off by the county government),” the activist who had a banner written “Eldoret to Nairobi HIV/AIDS Awareness Walk” explained.
The initiative was to create awareness for HIV testing, and according to the activist, it was endorsed and flagged off by Usain Gishu, Governor Jonathan Bii, alias Koti Moji.
Cold reception in Nairobi
However, upon arrival in Nairobi, he recounted that there were no leaders to receive him, with no representative from the Ministry of Health, leaving him stranded on the streets.
“Ametembea akiwa na hope ya kwamba akifika Nairobi atapatana na viongozi waweze kusupport initiative yake (he walked with hopes of being received by leaders to support his initiative),” Mosiria remarked.
He spent a night in the streets after the team that walked with him took all the money that was left, before well-wishers intervened and linked him up with Mosiria, who shared his plight.
Mosiria’s fundraiser
The head of the customer care department in Nairobi County led an online fundraiser urging Kenyans to contribute to facilitate the activist’s return to Eldoret.
He praised the initiative launched by the activist, highlighting the importance of getting tested for HIV and appealed to the Uasin Gishu governor to follow up and support him.
Mosiria also urged Kapseret Member of Parliament Oscar Sudi to intervene, noting that the man hails from his constituency.
