Mosiria intervenes to stop mob lynching over Ksh5K job scam
By Ascah Mwango, January 16, 2026Nairobi County Government’s Citizen Engagement and Customer Care boss, Geoffrey Mosiria, intervened to rescue a man who was about to be lynched by members of the public over a fraud incident.
In a statement posted on his X account on Thursday, January 15, 2026, Mosiria said the individual was accused of stealing Ksh5,000 from a young man after promising to secure him a job at Mash Poa. The man reportedly disappeared with the money, triggering public anger when he was later traced.
“Today, I intervened to rescue a man who was about to be lynched by members of the public after he allegedly stole Ksh5,000 from a young man. He had promised to secure him a job at Mash Poa, only to disappear with the money,” Mosiria stated.
He noted that the situation had already escalated into violence by the time he arrived at the scene, with the man having sustained minor injuries from the mob.
“The situation had already turned violent, and the suspect had suffered minor injuries from the mob. I stepped in to stop further harm and ensured he was handed over to the police for lawful investigation and appropriate action,” he said.

Mosiria strongly condemned mob justice, saying it should never be an option even when dealing with criminal suspects.
“Crime must never be tolerated, but neither should mob justice. The law must take its course,” he said.
He also urged members of the public to remain cautious, especially amid rising cases of job scams targeting desperate job seekers.
“I urge the public to remain vigilant against fraudsters and job scammers, and to always report suspects to the authorities instead of taking the law into their own hands. Justice must be served the right way,” Mosiria added.
The person of interest was later handed over to the police, who are expected to investigate the matter and take appropriate legal action.
