Mosiria exposes Kilimani short-stay rentals running as illegal brothels
By Cynthia Lodite, January 9, 2026Nairobi’s Citizen Engagement and Customer Service CEC Geoffrey Mosiria has called on married women to be vigilant about their partners who visit friends at short-stay rentals, while also exposing a section of illegal businesses in Nairobi’s urban Kilimani area.
Taking to his official X account on Friday, January 9, 2026, Mosiria exposed a section of massage parlours in the Kilimani area, which often have displays of graphics that suggest sexuality while displaying phone numbers.
Mosiria has warned that such palours are illegal and are not licensed by the Nairobi County Government.
“I want to bring to the attention of Nairobians, and Kenyans at large, that most of the massage signages you see in KILIMANI and other parts of the city, especially those with graphics that suggest sexuality and only display a phone number, are illegal and not licensed by the county government,” Mosiria said.
He went on adding that the signages are put up at night and normally run short-stay rental business within the residential eastes hence making them hard to be recognised.
“These signages are usually put up at night. Most of these establishments are actually brothels operating illegal prostitution businesses. They normally run this business within residential estates, making them very hard to recognise unless one is keen enough,” Mosiria added.
While urging Kenyans to be careful, Mosiria revealed that most activities done in the area are often secretly recorded using hidden cameras.
Illegal videos warning
He further explained that such recorded contents are later used to extort money with threats of the videos being exposed.
“I call upon people, especially men, to be very careful. In the process of engaging in these illegal activities, they are secretly recorded using hidden cameras, and the footage is later used to extort money, with threats of the videos being exposed,” Mosiria said.
On his part, Mosiria called on married women to closely monitor their men, especially when they say they are visiting friends in short-stay rentals.
He further added that many marriages break up through secrecy, deception, and involvement in illegal activities.
“I am also appealing to married women to closely monitor their men, especially when they say they are visiting friends. This is how many marriages break up through secrecy, deception, and involvement in illegal activities,” Mosiria said.
“No leader may have the courage to condemn these acts, but as the officer tasked with communication and citizen engagement, I believe this is the right time to expose this rot in society and protect our families and communities,” Mosiria added.
