List of areas that will experience power blackout on Monday, January 26

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has released a statement detailing areas to experience power blackout on Monday, January 26, 2026, due to planned system maintenance.

Through a statement shared on Facebook on Sunday, January 25, 2026, the lighting company urged those affected to plan accordingly.

Nairobi region

In Nairobi County, parts of South B will experience power interruptions on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Affected locations include South B Shopping Centre, Sanasana, Capital Centre, Police Band, Zanzibar Road, Golden Gate Kenya, Mass Communication, and adjacent customers.

KPLC advised residents and businesses to make necessary arrangements to manage the outage.

Mt. Kenya region

In Nyeri County, Kangubiri, Gititu, and Ithekahuno areas will be without power on Monday, January 26, 2026, between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.

Locations impacted include Ihigaini, Munga’ria, Kaigonde, Kangubiri High School, Gititu, Nyaithee, Ithe-Kahuno, Karo, Maingirano, Thageini, Kiaraho, Gathungo, Giachera, and neighbouring customers.

Parts of Murang’a County will also experience planned blackouts in Chomo, Kahunyo, Nduti, Ndakaini, and Njunu areas.

The outage will run from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and affect Chomo, Kahunyo, Wanduhi, Kigoro Ka Chief, Njunu T/Fact, Mwea, Gatunguru, Giteme, Kanunga, Kigoro Water Treatment, Nduka Moja, Gituru, Kungu Maitu, Ndakaini Water, Ndakaini Market, Kimandi Market, Wanyaga, Nduti T/Fact, Kiangari, Kimotho Ndiara, and adjacent customers.

South Nyanza region

In Kisii County, residents and businesses in Kiaruta area are scheduled to experience a power blackout on Monday, January 26, 2026, from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Affected locations include Kiaruta Centre, Kiaruta Dispensary, Riabanaba, Ekeore Secondary, and neighbouring customers.

KPLC urged all residents, businesses, and institutions within the listed areas to plan ahead for the power interruptions.

The company reassured customers that the maintenance work is part of routine upgrades to improve the reliability and efficiency of electricity supply across the country.
