KWS advises motorists to exercise caution in parks amid heavy rains and flash floods

The Kenya Wildlife Service (KWS) has issued a safety advisory to motorists visiting national parks, warning of hazardous conditions caused by ongoing heavy rainfall.

According to KWS on Tuesday, December 30, 2025, several parks are extremely wet, with flash floods posing significant risks to visitors and their vehicles.

The authority reported that multiple vehicles have already become stuck in mud and floodwaters, creating a high volume of rescue requests that are straining park operations.

“Motorists are strongly advised not to go off-road. For your safety and to allow our rangers to focus on wildlife protection, please stick to designated roads at all times,” KWS stated in the advisory.
