Kenya Power lists parts of 5 counties set for blackouts on Wednesday, September 23
By Paulette Mboga, September 22, 2026Kenya Power has listed parts of five counties that will experience power interruptions on Wednesday, September 23, 2026, due to scheduled maintenance.
In a notice on Tuesday, September 22, 2026, Kenya Power said, “Good evening, please find the areas scheduled for power maintenance tomorrow, Wednesday, 23rd September 2026.”
Nairobi County
In Nairobi County, the affected area will be part of Kitsuru. The interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m. and will affect part of Kirawa Road and adjacent customers.
Nyeri County
In Nyeri County, the affected areas are around Tumutumu Hospital and Ngandu Girls Secondary School. The power interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The affected areas include Gatomboya, Githima, Cosato Coffee Mill, Glaituu, Tegu Coffee Factory, Mathaithi, Rugoka, Giagatika Market, Mbogo-Ini, Tumutumu Primary School, Tumutumu Hospital, Tumutumu Secondary School, Karia, Ikonju, Kiangoma Market, Kiangoma Primary School, Karie Coffee Factory, Mungaria Polytechnic, Wakamata, Kaiyaba, Mathira Technical Institute, Ngandu Girls Secondary School, Safaricom Boosters, Airtel Boosters and adjacent customers.
Meru County
In Meru County, the affected areas will be around Kinoro Tea Factory and Egoji Hospital. The interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
Areas affected include Miruriri Market, Miruriri Girls Secondary School, Kauro Village, Giumpu, Kiaruo Village, New Blaze Primary School, Kuiri Coffee Factory, Rigiri Coffee Factory, Kinoro Market, Rwarene Primary School, Mweru Market, KARI Centre, Rai Coffee Factory, St. Mary Igoji, Geeto Primary School, Gatangugi Market, Mboroga and adjacent customers.
Murang’a County
In Murang’a County, the affected areas will be Njumbi, Ngutu and Kanorero. The interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The affected areas include Kanorero, Njumbi, Nyakianga, Gikoe, Kangunu, Ngutu, Muiriini, Karunge and Kanjahi, as well as adjacent customers.
Kitui County
In Kitui County, the affected areas will be Kalisasi, Mumbuni and Musukini. The interruption will run from 9.00 a.m. to 5.00 p.m.
The areas affected include Mwingi Hospital, Kalisasi, Musukini, Ndaluni, Katalwa, Muutwaathi, Mumbuni, Mathyakani and adjacent customers.
The notice came after Kenya Power notified Kiambu residents near Gachie of an electricity supply disruption. Residents and customers around White Cottage Primary in Gachie, Kiambu County, are experiencing a temporary electricity supply interruption as repair works continue on the network.
