Kenya Power lists areas to face blackouts on Tuesday, July 20
By Dan Kauna, July 20, 2026Kenya Power has notified customers across 10 counties about scheduled maintenance that will cause temporary power interruptions on Tuesday, July 21, 2026.
In a public notice shared on its official X account to alert domestic and business consumers ahead of time, Kenya Power said the planned outage will take place between 9.00 a.m. and 5.00 p.m.
According to the utility company, the outages will affect areas within Nairobi, Nakuru, Kisumu, Bungoma, Nyeri, Embu, Meru, Kiambu, Mombasa, and Tana River counties.
“The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (21st July 2026).”

Nairobi, Coast, and Central Rift
In Nairobi Region, Njiru will face power disruption from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm. Affected locations include Njiru Town, Chokaa, Shujaa, QMP, St. Micheal Chokaa, and neighbouring customers.
In Central Rift, parts of Nakuru County will lose power between 9:00 am. and 3:00 pm. Locations impacted include Kabarak Daily and Borehole, Lower Mangu, Mangu Umoja, Boito, Tumaini, Shalom A, Lusaka, Gitomwa Farm, Lengenet, Legetio, Ngessumin, Muricho, Kipsirich, and Nakurtakwei.
Down at the Coast, Mombasa County will experience blackouts in two key areas from 9:00 am. to 4:00 pm. The first area covers Simba Villa and Likoni Cooperative Bank, including Equity Bank, Kenya Power Office, Shely Beach, and Kwetu Beach.
The second affects Links Road and Simba Road, stretching across Epic Plaza, Nyali Primary School, Mamba Village, Golf Club, and Premier Hospital. In Tana River County, parts of Minjira, including Minjira Centre, Ngao Hospital, Tarasaa Village, Kurawa Salt, and Kensalt, will be offline during the same period.
Mt. Kenya, Western, and North Eastern
In Mt. Kenya Region, Nyeri County will have blackouts in Kiru and Kanjama from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Kiru Boys, Kanjama Market, and Kiru Coffee Factory.
In Embu County, Gakwegori, Mutunduri, and Manyatta will undergo maintenance from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, impacting Java Hotel and Mutunduri Market.
In Meru County, KBC Nyambene, Kianjai, and Miciimkuru will be off between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm
In the northeast, Kiambu County will see outages around Mt Sinai Hospital and Broadway School from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm, affecting Capwell Industries, Gretsa University, and Kiandutu Police Station.
Similarly in the Western Region, Kisumu County will face two maintenance windows. Saganyo Village will lose power from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm, while Homaline Dairy and Kunyak Coffee Factory go off from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
In Bungoma County, Mabanga ATC and Roja Villa will be without electricity from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
