Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackouts on Saturday, July 18
By William Muthama, July 17, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned electricity interruptions affecting parts of Migori and Meru counties on Saturday, July 18, 2026, to facilitate routine maintenance works on its power network.
In a notice issued to customers on Friday, July 17, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled outages will run between 8:00 am and 5:00 pm, depending on the location, and will affect several towns, schools, businesses and surrounding areas.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (July 18, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” Kenya Power said.
Migori County
In the South Nyanza Region, parts of Migori County will experience a planned power interruption from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.
The affected areas include Migori Airstrip, Ragana, Nyanchabo, Karamu, Mabera, Nyabohanse, Motemorabu, Isebania, KRA, and adjacent customers.

“Affected Areas: Migori Airstrip, Ragana, Nyanchabo, Karamu, Mabera, Nyabohanse, Motemorabu, Isebania, KRA & adjacent customers. Saturday, 18.07.2026 TIME: 8.30 am – 5.00 am,” the notice stated.
Meru County
In the Mt. Kenya Region, customers in parts of Meru County will also be affected by the maintenance exercise from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
The interruption will affect Gimpine Primary School, Thaari, parts of Kianjai, Uuru, Miathene, Kirukire, Kathiiri, Karimba Primary School, Miathene KMTC, Kanjalu Girls, Ithamare, Mwithu Coffee Factory, Giunku, Kiandiu, Kitheo, and nearby customers.

“Affected Areas: Gimpine Pri, Thaari, Part of Kianjai, Uuru, Miathene, Kirukire, Kathiiri, Karimba Pri Sch, Miathene KMTC, Kanjalu Girls, Ithamare, Mwithu C/Fact, Giunku, Kiandiu, Kitheo & adjacent customers,” the notice stated.
Kenya Power said adjacent customers connected to the affected power lines should also expect interruptions during the maintenance period.
