Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Wednesday, July 22
By Valerian Khakayi, July 21, 2026Kenya Power has announced planned electricity maintenance works that will affect customers in parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Nakuru, Bungoma, Nyeri and Kiambu counties on Wednesday, July 22, 2026.
In a public notice issued on Tuesday, July 21, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled maintenance is aimed at facilitating network upgrades and improving the reliability of electricity supply.
Power outages in the affected areas will occur at different times, with most interruptions lasting between 9.00am and 5.00pm.
“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (22nd July, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” Kenya Power announced.
Here are specific areas that will experience the planned power blackouts.
Nairobi County
In Nairobi, the outage will start from 9.00am to 5.00pm in the affected areas.
Areas to be affected include Komarock Infill B, Komarock Sector 3A, Komarock Sector 3B, Komarock Sector 2 Phase II, Kayole Naivas, Mayor’s Pub, Kayole Co-op Bank, Newlight Kayole Primary School, Democratic Hotel, Sabasaba Estate, Kayole Kwa Chief, Kayole Hospital, Maria Hospital, Prime Rose and neighbouring customers.
Uasin Gishu County
The 10.30 am to 5.00 pm blackout will affect customers in Marura Centre, Ndovu Centre and surrounding areas, which will be without electricity during the maintenance period.
Nakuru County
The outage will affect parts of Molo, Langwenda, Chemaner, Chemusian, Muchorwe, Keringet, Olulunguruene, Ambusket, Kiptagich Tea Factory, KTDA Factory, Itare Dam, Taita Market and nearby customers from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Similarly, areas in Sarova Lion Hill Hotel, KMA, 3KA, NDU and Hospital, Umoja Estate, Lanet, Ndimu Ndege, Barnabas Centre, Greenstead International School, Karandi, Mbaruk, Kiumbururia, Pema Estate, Mwariki, Fountain Borehole and adjacent customers will experience an outage from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm.
Bungoma County
The planned 9.00 am to 5.00 pm outage will affect Nabuyole Water Treatment Plant, Masinde Muliro University Webuye Campus, Chocolate Estate Webuye, Webuye Pan Paper Guest House, Murumba Village, Webuye CDF Office, the DCC’s Office in Webuye East and neighbouring customers.
Nyeri County
Customers in Ruthagati Coffee Factory, Kameria, Kiangi Primary School, Ruthagati Market, Ruthagati Secondary School, Karuthi, Lower Gachuiro, Kiondwe-Ini Polytechnic, Ngorano Health Centre, Hiriga, Safaricom and Airtel booster sites, among other nearby areas, will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.
Additionally, residents in Ndathi Market, Kabaru Forest Station, Karandi, Mbao Sawmill, KWS Lounge, Mountain Lodge Kihari and surrounding customers will also experience an outage.
Kiambu County
The planned 9.00am to 5.00pm outage will affect some residents.
Affected locations include Musa Gitau Shopping Centre, Gikambura Shopping Centre, FCC, Riunderi, Gichuhiro, Jambo TV, Lusigetti Shopping Centre, Kaigata, Ndacha, Nachu, Mawathaine and adjacent customers.
