Kenya Power lists areas to experience blackout on Wednesday, January 28
By Paulette Mboga, January 27, 2026Kenya Power has announced that several regions across the country will experience planned power maintenance on Wednesday, January 28, 2026.
The company advised customers to plan and check the latest schedule for updates.
Nairobi region
Parts of Nairobi County will be affected, including Statehouse Road and part of Dennis Pritt Road. Scheduled maintenance will run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Areas impacted include Kitale Lane, Likoni Lane, St. George’s School, Total Dennis Pritt, Royal Media, Shell Dennis Pritt, part of Cotton Avenue, Maalim Juma Road, part of Rose Avenue, and adjacent customers.

North Rift Region
In Uasin Gishu County, power maintenance will affect Kuinet Centre, Merewet, Kaprobu, Kipsangui, Teresia, Kaptaiit, and nearby customers.

The maintenance window is from 10.00 am to 4.00 pm. Kenya Power explained that the work is part of routine upgrades to ensure a stable power supply in the region. Customers are advised to plan accordingly and avoid any interruptions to essential services.
Western region
Parts of Kisumu County, including Kisian, will be subject to maintenance from 8.00 am to 5.00 pm. Affected areas include Obambo Market, Obambo Secondary, Obambo Dispensary, Kabiti Market, Osiri, Galore Hotel, Paga Beach, Ogal Beach, and adjacent customers.
South Nyanza Region
In Kisii County, maintenance will affect Nyamagwa, Riobara, and surrounding areas from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm.

Key locations include Igare, Nyamagwa Boys/Mission Hospital, Boitangare, Riobara Market, Kodige Primary, and adjacent customers.
Mt. Kenya region
Parts of Nyeri County, including Kanyagia, Endarasha, and Embaringo, will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Other areas include Essacco, Sangare, Rhino Watch, Uasonyiro, Mairo, Pura, Endarasha Secondary, Watuka Market, Wandare Market, Kimunyuru Market, and adjacent customers.
In addition, the Mwichuiri and Kimbo areas will experience maintenance in the same time window.
Parts of Embu County will also be affected from 8.30 am to 4.30 pm, including Ishiara Hospital, Ishiara Market, Intex Quarry, and Ketraco Ishiara. In Kirinyaga County, Kagumo Town, Mutira Village, and Riakiania Village will be affected from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Kitui County areas of Mwitika, Kikuu, and Kyamatu will also experience outages in the same timeframe.
