Kenya Power lists areas facing blackouts on Thursday, July 30

Kenya Power has announced scheduled electricity blackouts affecting several areas across Nairobi, Nyeri, Kwale, and Mombasa counties on July 30, 2026.

The utility company confirmed through a social media statement that “listed areas will be under planned power maintenance” as technical teams work on routine network upgrades.

Nairobi West and Nyeri blackout zones

In the Nairobi region, the outage will target Nairobi West from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm. Key institutions and landmarks set to be affected include Strathmore University, Langata Technical College, Nairobi West Hospital, Madaraka Primary School, ICC Church Mombasa Road, Hotel Rio, Summerdale Hotel, and Absa Bank Nairobi West.

Residents living in Madaraka Estate, Siwaka Estate, Serene Court, Ramsey Court, and Foundation Court will also go without electricity. The blackout will affect customers along Msufu Road, Sumba Road, Naimei Road, PAA Crescent, Kifaru Crescent, Swara Crescent, Ghandi Avenue, Kisauni Road, Muthaiti Avenue, Muhoho Avenue, Kodi Road, Geta Road, Ole Sankale Road, and Nyayo Stadium Masaba Road.

In the Mt Kenya region, parts of Nyeri County will face outages during the same hours. Under the Jumbi Farm, Msafiri, and Gatuamba feeder line, affected places include Jumbi Farm, Msafiri, Kwa J, Huhoini, Aguthi, Gatuamba Village, Gatuamba Market, and Gatuamba Dispensary.

A separate shutdown covering Mweru, Kabuta, and Kariara will affect Muhuri, Kimathi, Matongu, Kangure Forest, Kambwe, Kigetuini, Mweru Factory, Ngamwa, Kabuta, Ngamwa Safaricom Booster, Kaini Village, Kariara, Gumba, and Karabamkt.

Outages scheduled for Kwale and Mombasa

At the Coast, operations will touch parts of Kwale County and parts of Mombasa County. In Kwale, power will be turned off from 9.00 am to 4.00 pm across Mrima, Lunga Lunga, and Vanga, affecting Mrima, Lungalunga, Vanga, Horohoro, and Mwangulu.

In Mombasa, the interruption will run from 9.00 am to 5.00 pm, covering the Liwatoni and Autoport areas. Businesses and establishments affected include Doshi Hardware, Kenya Fisheries Liwatoni, Liwatoni Mosque, Bandari College, Diamond Shipping, Autoport, Parkside, Alequa Marketing, Kitui Flour Mills Ltd, and Mission to Seamen, alongside premises on Zanzibar Road and Mozambique Road.

Kenya Power explained that “the interruption is part of network maintenance” aimed at improving grid reliability.
