Kenya Power lists areas facing blackouts on Thursday, July 23
By Dan Kauna, July 22, 2026Kenya Power has announced a planned electricity interruption that will affect parts of five counties on Thursday, July 23, 2026. The lighting company confirmed that routine maintenance on the power network will cause supply cuts across Nairobi, Kisumu, Nyeri, Kiambu, and Tana River counties.
Posting on social media platform X, the utility firm informed electricity users about the scheduled interruptions.
“The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (23rd July, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” the company wrote.
Nairobi and Western region maintenance
In Nairobi, power supply will be turned off from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm in selected residential and commercial estates.
In the part of Karen area, the interruption will affect Tree Lane, Karen the Hub, Karen Police, Windy Ridge, West Wood Park, Ololua Close, Eagles Church, and Total Petrol Station Kerarapon.
Other affected places include Ngong View Estate, KCB Training College, Karen Roises, Shade Hotel, Shell Kerarapon, Mutero PCEA, Mutero Ridge, Rise/Drop, Mwitu Drive, and Mwitu Estate.
Supply will also be cut off in the Vickens area within Nairobi during the same hours. This will affect Vickens 30, Infinity, Carrefour Bypass Ruai, and neighbouring properties.
In Western Kenya, parts of Kisumu County will face a power cut starting at 9:00 am and ending at 4:00 pm. The affected location is Bar Andingo, which covers Bar Andingo Primary, Bar Andingo Secondary, and Bar Andingo Village.
Mt. Kenya and Coast regions affected
In Mt Kenya region, scheduled maintenance will touch sections of Nyeri and Kiambu counties between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm.
In Nyeri County, the shut-off will hit Kamune and Riakiberu, covering Ngamba Riakiberu Coffee Factory, Kamune Market, Gaithunu, Iruri Market, Kaharo Dispensary, Gachirago Coffee Factory, Karugiro Coffee Factory, Geitwa Market, Githanga Dispensary, Thuita Market, and Keni.
In Kiambu County, power will be temporarily disconnected in Old Kiambu and Prisons, affecting Old Kiambu, Kiambu Prisons, Karambaini, and part of Ndumberi.
Electricity will also be turned off in Cravers, Witeithie, and Kiahuria. This covers Total Gatitu, Cravers Hotel, TIBS, Vincentian Prayer House, Mangu High, Compuera High, Ndarugu Coffee Estate, Witeithie Estate, Kibute, parts of Ngoingwa, Thiwasco, Albizzia Tola, and Ukombozi.
Meanwhile, in the Coast region, parts of Tana River County will have power interrupted from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm in parts of Minjira and Idsowe. Places affected include Basket of Hope, Idsowe, Danisa, Tarda, Gamba Primary School Hewani, Wema Mission, Wema, Kulesa, and surrounding areas.
