Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of Nairobi on Friday, May 8

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in several parts of Nairobi on Friday, May 8, 2026, as part of scheduled maintenance operations on its electricity network.

In a notice issued on Thursday, May 7, 2026, the utility company said the planned maintenance exercise would affect customers in selected areas within the Nairobi region between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

Kenya Power noted that the temporary interruption is necessary to facilitate network maintenance and improve the reliability of electricity supply in the affected areas.

“Good evening. The listed areas will be under planned power maintenance tomorrow (8th May, 2026). We regret any inconvenience that may be caused during the operations,” Kenya Power wrote.

Among the areas expected to experience the blackout is Kilimani Road and parts of Ngong Road.

According to the notice, the outage will affect sections of Elgeyo Marakwet Road, Kilimani Road, parts of Ngong Road, Ndemi Road, Suna Road, Adams Arcade, Green House, Kirichwa Road, Menelik Road, parts of Muringa Road, Kirichwa Lane and Ndemi Lane.

Several institutions, businesses and residential premises will also be affected, including Nairobi Women Hospital, KISM Offices on Ngong Road, Quickmart Kilimani, Morning Office Park, Ndemi Gardens, Jadala Investment and adjacent customers.

At the same time, residents and businesses in parts of Imara Daima will also experience electricity interruption during the scheduled maintenance period.

Areas listed under the Imara Daima outage include parts of Villa Franca Estate, Tashcom Supermarket, Tsavo Gardens Apartments, Valeries Place, Scion Hospital, Elegant Apartments, Kenwood Court, Southern Apartments, Kings Millennium, Mukuru Health Centre, Kingswood Park Estate and Think Twice Imara alongside neighbouring customers.
