Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 9 counties on Tuesday, July 14

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of nine counties on Tuesday, July 14, 2026, as the company carries out maintenance works on its electricity network.

In a notice issued on Monday evening, July 13, 2026, the electricity distributor said the scheduled outages will affect selected areas in the North Rift, Western, Mt Kenya and Coast regions, with power expected to be interrupted at different times depending on the location.

According to the utility company, the affected areas will be under planned power maintenance as part of efforts to improve the reliability of the electricity network.

“The interruption is part of network maintenance. We regret any inconvenience that may occur during the operations,” Kenya Power wrote.

North Rift and Western

In Trans Nzoia County, areas around Aturukan, Kibomet and Kapcheplanget will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The affected areas include Aturukan Hotel, Mt Elgon Dairies, Sinendet Centre, Kibomet Primary School, Bishop Yego, Sirwo Resort, Mwaita Primary School, Tuigoin Centre, Kiptenden, Kuriot, Parkera, Murgoiyo and surrounding areas.

In Kisumu County, parts of Shajanand Quary will be without power from 9:00 am to 1:00 pm.

The interruption will affect Shajanand Quarry, Ujenzi Quarry, Obambo, Ober Kamoth Health Centre, Galore, Paga Beach, Kabibi, Ogal Beach, Ahuodho Beach and nearby customers.

In Bungoma County, customers around Sikata and Bungoma Children’s Hospital will experience an outage from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm.

Mt Kenya region

In Nyeri County, areas around Bellevue and Gatarakwa will be affected from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

The outage will affect Bellevue Market, Bellevue Village, Gatarakwa Girls’ High School, Gatarakwa Market, Githura Market and nearby areas.

Other parts of Nyeri, including Witima and Kagumo, will also experience interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

In Embu County, areas around Muthatari, Mugoya, Prisons and Kamiu will have power interruptions from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm.

In Tharaka Nithi County, customers in Igamatundu and surrounding areas will be affected from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm.

Coast region

In Kwale County, areas around Buga Village and Neptune will experience a blackout from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.

The affected locations include Mandago, Mwisho wa Lami, Almanara, Neptune, Lantana Galu, Sonrisa and Chale Island.

In Kilifi County, customers around Sunsand and Kikambala will be without power from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.

In Mombasa County, areas around Jiwe la Kuvuka and Timbwani will experience interruptions from 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.
