Kenya Power announces blackout in parts of 4 counties on Monday, May 4

Kenya Power has announced planned power interruptions in parts of four counties across the country on Monday, May 4, 2026, as part of ongoing network maintenance.

In a statement issued on Sunday, May 3, 2026, the utility company said the scheduled outages are necessary to facilitate system improvements and ensure efficient electricity supply.

According to the notice, several areas in Nairobi will be affected, specifically along Kingara Road. The blackout is expected to run from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., impacting Kingara Road, Kingara Close and surrounding customers.

“NAIROBI REGION. AREA: KINGARA ROAD. DATE: Monday 04.05.2026 TIME: 9.00 Α.Μ. – 5.00 Ρ.Μ. Kingara Rd, Kingara Close & adjacent customers,” the statement read in part.

In the Central Rift region, parts of Kericho County, particularly Litein town and its environs, will experience power interruption from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

The affected areas include Kapsenetwet, Chemoiben, Kabartegan, Kapminchiywet School, Botoni Village, and nearby locations.

The North Rift region will also be affected, with sections of Uasin Gishu County set to experience outages between 9:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Areas listed include Kamoret, Kamagut, Sambut, Sunrise and adjacent customers.

Meanwhile, in the Mt. Kenya region, parts of Kirinyaga County will also be affected during the same hours. The interruption will impact Karaini Market, Kamuruana Village, Mutuma Block, Rutui TBC, Kangaita Kwa Eliud, Old Kangaita Market, Kangaita Primary School, Kangaita Tea Factory and surrounding areas.

Karaini Mkt, Kamuruana Village, Mutuma Block, Rutui TBC, Kangaita Kwa Eliud, Old Kangaita Mkt, Kangaita Pri, Kangaita T/Fact & adjacent customers,” the utility company wrote.

Kenya Power advised customers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and take necessary precautions during the outage period. The company also encouraged the public to access updated schedules through its official platforms for the latest information on planned maintenance.
