Kenya Met issues nationwide weather advisory for 7 days
By Cynthia Lodite, December 9, 2025The Kenya Meteorological Department (KMD) has issued a nationwide weather advisory for atleast seven days from Wednesday December 10, to Monday December 15, 2025.
In a detailed document released on Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Met department announced select areas expected to receive sunny intervals with partly cloudy conditions at night.
“The Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin and the Rift Valley (Nandi,Kakamega, Vihiga, Bungoma, Siaya, Busia, Baringo, Nakuru, Trans-Nzoia, Uasin-Gishu, Elgeyo-Marakwet, West-Pokot, Kisii, Nyamira, Kericho, Bomet, Kisumu, Homabay, Migori and Narok Counties): Mainly sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night,” Met said.

On the other hand, Met has warned that the North-Western Kenya areas are likely to receive sunny intervals during the day with partly cloudy conditions at night.
“However, there is a chance of afternoon and night showers occurring over a few places. North-western Kenya (Turkana and Samburu Counties): Sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night,” Met added.
On the other hand, Met has revealed that Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties will receive night showers within the next seven days.
“The Highlands East of the Rift Valley (Nyandarua, Laikipia, Nyeri, Kirinyaga, Murang’a, Kiambu, Meru, Embu, Tharaka-Nithi and Nairobi Counties): Mornings are expected to be cloudy, with a possibility of light rains over few places, giving way to sunny intervals. Occasional afternoon and night showers are likely over few places,” Met noted.
North, South Eastern areas
On the other side, North-eastern Kenya, Marsabit, Mandera, Wajir, Garissa and Isiolo Counties will receive sunny intervals expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
However, Met has warned that there is a possibility of morning rains and afternoon showers occurring over a few places.
The South-eastern lowlands (Machakos, Kitui, Makueni, Kajiado and Taita-Taveta Counties as well as the inland parts of Tana-River County) will have sunny intervals expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night.
However, occasional morning, afternoon and night showers are likely over a few places. The Coast, Mombasa, Kilifi, Lamu and Kwale Counties as well as the coastal parts of Tana River County.
Similarly, the sunny intervals are expected during the day, with partly cloudy conditions at night. However, there is a chance of morning, afternoon and night showers occurring over a few places.
