KeNHA to close part of Mombasa Road for footbridge installation

Motorists using Mombasa Road (A8) will experience a temporary closure of a section of the Nairobi-bound carriageway between Airtel Complex and General Motors next weekend.
In a public notice issued on Monday, June 15, 2026, the Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) announced that the closure will take place from Saturday, June 20, 2026, to Sunday, June 21, 2026, between 9.00 pm and 10.00 am.
“The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) wishes to notify the public that a section of the Nairobi-bound carriageway of Mombasa Road (A8), between Airtel Complex and General Motors, will be temporarily closed to traffic from Saturday, June 20, 2026, to Sunday, June 21, 2026, from 9.00 pm to 10.00 am.”

KeNHA said the closure is necessary to facilitate installation works on a pedestrian footbridge along the busy highway.
“This is to allow for the installation of the fabricated footbridge beams of the Airtel Footbridge across the Nairobi Bound Carriageway.”
Motorists have been advised to follow the traffic management plan that will be in place during the period of the closure and to cooperate with police officers and traffic marshals deployed on site.
“KeNHA advises motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan below and cooperate with the police and traffic marshals on site,” the authority stated.
The authority has urged road users to plan to avoid inconvenience during the nighttime works.
