I22 stolen cows recovered in Laikipia
By Nancy Marende, January 31, 2026Police officers in Laikipia County have recovered 122 stolen cows following a swift operation that foiled a cattle raid in Laikorok village.
In a statement on Saturday, January 31, 2026, the Kenya Police Service (KPS) revealed that officers from Doldol responded promptly after receiving reports of a cattle raid in the area.
The officers pursued the attackers and later set up an ambush in the Seku area, where they intercepted the raiders.
“After a fierce gun battle, police overpowered the raiders and recovered 122 of the 130 stolen cows. Manhunt ongoing in Mukogodo Forest,” read the statement.

Isiolo County
This comes months after police officers in Isiolo County recovered 120 stolen goats and eight cows following a joint operation involving security agencies, local leaders, and community elders.
In a statement on Friday, August 15, 2025, the National Police Service (NPS) said the recovery followed a series of livestock thefts and retaliatory raids in the region.
According to NPS, cattle rustlers stole five cows from a resident, prompting herdsmen from the affected community to raid the Lurubae area of Archer’s Post, making away with an unknown number of goats and sheep in early August.
Both incidents were reported to Isiolo Police Station and Archer’s Post Police Station, triggering coordinated efforts by the National Police Service, National Government Administration Officers, and respected elders from both sides.

“Yesterday, the recovered livestock were formally handed over to their rightful owners in a brief meeting held at Ngaremara Centre. The handover was attended by the OCS Archers Post, the Assistant Chief of Attan Location (Ngaremara Division), community elders, and local leaders,” read the statement in part.
Further, police stated that the handover served as a symbol of reconciliation, with stakeholders pledging to promote peace and curb further incidents of rustling.
Police commended the cooperation between security agencies and local communities, noting that dialogue and joint action remain the most effective tools in addressing livestock theft in Isiolo and other affected areas.
