‘Hata ulete jua ama mwezi’ – Wamalwa says Ruto is Wantam regardless of what he does
By Charles Ouma, February 23, 2026Democratic Action Party OF Kenya (DAP-K) leader Eugene Wamalwa has mocked President William Ruto’s ongoing political blitz across the country, insisting that it will not save him from going home in the 2027 elections.
Speaking at a charged rally when the united opposition took the Wantam crusade to Nyamira and Kisii with a series of rallies characterised by political fireworks on Monday, February 23, 2026, the former CS had no kind words for the president.
Wamalwa noted that while Ruto is desperately trying to court voters by traversing the country, launching the disbursement of National Youth Opportunities Towards Advancement (NYOTA) funds, Kenyans should reject every attempt and make him a one-term president.
Eugene Wamalwa sends crowd into a frenzy
The crowd went into a frenzy as Wamalwa dismissed Ruto’s efforts, insisting that he would be sent home even if he brought the sun, the stars and the moon, in apparent reference to the NYOTA funds that the Head of State has been traversing the country to oversee the launch of the disbursement.

“Hebu tumwambie apate message yangu vizuri. Wewe Kasongo, at aulete nyota, hat aulete jua, hat aulete mwezi wewe ni wantam,” Wamalwa stated with the crowd chanting”wantam” at every pause.
This loosely translates to Let’s make it clear to Kasongo that even if he brings the star, the sun or the moon, you are a wantam president”
Wantam is a political slogan coined from the word one-term, with the united opposition popularising it in relation to their resolve to send Ruto home in 2027.
Ruto on the receiving end
On the receiving end was President William Ruto, with the opposition heavyweights courting the region
On his part, Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka questioned Ruto’s claims that he will emerge victorious with a margin of more than one million votes.
According to Kalonzo, victory remains elusive for Ruto with the vote-rich Mt. Kenya, Ukambani, Gusii and the better part of Western leaning towards the opposition.
“Ruto is claiming he will win with over 1 million votes. Atoe wapi?” Kalonzo stated.

The procession had earlier addressed a series of roadside rallies in Bomet, with Rigathi Gachagua accusing elected leaders from the area of abandoning voters after allegedly being bought and vowing to fiercely defend the residents.
“Bomet! My great people, thank you! I have heard your cry; I will be with you every step of the way. Kenya belongs to all of us,” Gachagua said amid cheers from the crowd.
